Queen Albastia - Design

I wanted to draw a full body of Albastia, a character I made from my previous deviation "Priceless". Mainly I wanted to do this so I could design her dress, which I am quite proud of ^^ Can I make a costume or can I make a costume?! Woo! At first it looked very plain, but then I added the lines like in the Pyramid Panny egyptian costume and the rest all came together. I was determined to draw her triangular, jutting sleeves. It somehow makes her shoulders look wider. I made her with the image in my mind of her being a very pale person, all in light and silvery colors with lots of white. I also imagined some lavender and white coloring ornaments. I'm also very proud of her hairstyle... well at least the main part of it on the top of her head. It's kinda a wierd mix of midevil maiden meets edwardian queen... I'm not sure if I like it being white though, I may change it to a very fair blond, we'll see.

Albastia is here with her mask off. I have a fondness for both crowns and masks, so drawing things like this makes me happy. You can see that her eyes are very dark... I did this intentionally. I wanted to try an eye style that looked like it had very heavy mascara and eyeliner, that way it could be very, very dramatic. ^^

A little about Queen Albastia:

When she was still a princess a god came raining down into her room one night and placed a curse on her that would make her completely emotionless. She could show nor express any emotion in her tone of voice or on her face (which is why she looks so indifferent). Her father, who only thought of his own welfare, looked upon this has a huge burden - because who would want to marry a princess that was cursed by the gods? Thus, he forced her to wear a silver and gold mask to hide her eyes and most of her face so that no one could tell what was wrong with her. When suitors asked why she wore the mask, the king would tell them that she was so blindingly beautiful that the gods forced her to wear a mask so that she didn't outshine the sun. That didn't help, the suitors thought it was pointless to marry someone who was so beautiful that she had to hide it. Also rumors spread that the princess' face had become disfigured so her face had to be hidden, or that she really had the face of a beast, or that her eyes could turn men into stone. Lots of rumors flew around, so no one would marry her.
Eventually, her father died, regreting all he'd put on Albastia's shoulders and also regreting that he couldn't see her smile one last time. Albastia became queen and quickly became a powerful ruler since she showed no fear towards her enemies. She still kept her mask on, however, because she didn't know what the people would think if they knew she was cursed. The only people who knew about it were her closest sevants and courtiers.
Albastia is really a kind, considerate and compassionate person, but since she can't show any emotions she often appears to be hard, fearless and cold. She's very responsible and does her best to keep peace and harmony in her kingdom. She often chooses her responsibilities over her desires and ends up making many sacrifices, most people that meet her are afraid at first but then quickly feel sad for her situation. She doesn't seem to mind a terrible lot though, which also leads one to wonder why she got cursed in the first place...
