The Fish Bomb -Final-

I kinda hate putting the name of this in the title, since it kinda ends up giving away what happens.

MY FIRST... REAL... ANIMATION... that is over 5 seconds! Woot! In fact, how many seconds IS it? O.o Probably 10 seconds.

I've doubled my productivity!

Anyway, this damn thing took me all day and a good chunk of last night. Most of the time was spend curseing at the monitor of my laptop, doing one thing then being forced to start all over again, and random breaks to play Magical Starsign on my DS. In other words, it was alot of trial and error, which is to be expected when you know so little about something. =x

Still, I'm the ambitious sort. I often think too big and end up quitting because things get too hard or are beyond my ability. But I didn't give up! So I'm rather proud.

So anyway... you must be wondering... "Dude, wtf is this?!". Well, it's a short, random story... more like an inside joke between me and my dad. I said to him a few times "If I ever get Flash, I'm going to animate a bomb, and when it explodes... a fish will pop out! And when it does instead of 'boom' it'll say 'fish!'". Why? Well, the sound in this is actually my voice. NO that's not what I really sound like! My voice is actually pretty deep. But I can make my voice really high, like Jigglypuff from Pokemon, and I have a thing where I tend to talk in that voice and say random stuff like "Meefoo!". I used to say "Fish!" alot, because it sounded cute. ... don't... don't ask me! It's just something I do!

So yeah, that's the story. Speaking of fish, that fish took me like... 2 seconds to draw O.o Which amazes me since everything else took HOURS. And it's the best looking thing in the whole damn animation. lol. Go figure.

By the time I go to the end where the fis pops out, I learned alot of stuff and things went really smoothly without any real problems... well... except for one. I WANTED to make a replay button, but I can't find a tutorial that works for me. The ones I've seen so far say that I have to insert code into the Replay button... but... my Flash program doesn't let me insert code inside buttons! Or any other symbol for that matter. The only place I've found that I can put ANYTHING is inside frames... so I'm totally lost. I haven't been able to find anything useful on the subject either.... well, no info that anyone's willing to part with for free anyway. O.o It must be REALLY complicated if people feel compelled to SELL that information. Oh well.

Oh, and... pardon the pun at the end. XD

(Edit: I figured out why I wasn't able to add code to the freakin' buttons... and it's really a dumb reason. Actionscript 3.0. It's dumb and doesn't let you for some reason. I had to basically copy and paste the entire thing in a new document with 2.0 script, and I was able to make a replay button at the end! yay!

Unfortuntely, I still can't figure out how to make a play button work. >.> Everytime I try I can get the first screen to stop and you can SEE the button - but you can't click on it and it doesn't do anything. SIGH. But at least I'm learning, right? As soon as I figure out how to get it to work, I'll edit it again. Thanks guys!)

(EDIT 2: Alright! I finally managed to make a Play button! I have no idea what was wrong with it before. O.o My only guess is something wasn't right within the button itself... so I ended up trashing it and making the one you see here. I think this about all I can do to improve this animation... a loading bar would be stupid, since the animation is so short. I'll save that for next time.

I wanna thank everyone who's helped and supported me as I'm slowly learning how to use Flash I promise I'll do bigger and better things in the future!)
